Tour Plan

Day 1 : Kathmandu, Nepal

Book your flights to and from  Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, Nepal. Upon arrival at Kathmandu Airport, the Traverse Adventure Tours team will welcome you and transfer you to the hotel. The first three days in Kathmandu will serve as local sightseeing days for us to get our permits for Tibet.

In the evening, take advantage of the opportunity to meet everyone and discuss the upcoming adventure. We will also arrange an orientation session for the ride and discuss things to take care of while we ride the rooftop of the World. 

Day 2 : Kathmandu Local

We will get our taxis in the morning for local sightseeing in Kathmandu and nearby areas. we will explore Kathmandu city and visit some of its most important tourist attractions. Our itinerary includes a visit to Kathmandu Durbar Square, where you can marvel at the historic palaces and temples. 

We will also tour the Lalitpur Heritage City, known for its rich culture and architectural beauty. Additionally, we will explore Bhaktapur Durbar Square, famous for its well-preserved courtyards and vibrant atmosphere. Finally, we will spend some time in the bustling Thamel area, renowned for its lively streets, shops, and restaurants.

Day 3 : Kathmandu Bike Ride Local

We’ll kick off the day with an early breakfast at the hotel, followed by a short meeting to introduce the team and our motorcycles. Today’s adventure is a relaxed day ride, covering about 60 kilometers, with stops at some of Kathmandu’s best local attractions.

Our first destination is the beautiful Jhor Waterfall, a favorite among locals. After spending some time at the falls, we’ll head into the countryside, riding along winding roads. Our second stop is the Kakani View Point, where you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains.

Next, we’ll ride to Chandragiri Hills and take a scenic cable car ride up to Bhaleshwar Temple, which offers stunning panoramic views of the entire Kathmandu Valley. After soaking in the sights, we’ll head back to Kathmandu for an overnight stay.

Day 4 : Kathmandu to Syaprubesi

We’ll begin the day with an early breakfast at the hotel before meeting our team and gearing up for our departure from Kathmandu. Our exciting Motor bike ride to Syabrubesi, approximately 122 kilometers away, will take us through stunning landscapes and scenic routes.

Our first stop will be at Trishuli Bazaar, where we can stretch, enjoy some light snacks by the Trishuli River, and visit the famous hanging cable bridge. After a short break, we’ll continue riding until we reach Dhunche, a charming town where we’ll pause for lunch and have time to explore.

Once we arrive at Syabrubesi, we’ll check into our accommodation and refresh before visiting the nearby natural hot springs. These warm, therapeutic waters are the perfect way to unwind after a day of riding. After returning to the hotel, we’ll explore the local area and enjoy a delicious dinner, featuring traditional Nepali cuisine.

Located just 15 kilometers from the Tibet border, Syabrubesi offers not only incredible scenery but also serves as a gateway to more exciting adventures. After a day filled with exploration and relaxation, we’ll rest overnight in Syabrubesi, ready for the next leg of our journey.

Day 5 : Syaprubesi to Gyirong Town (9101 Ft)

We’ll rise early for an exciting yet challenging journey from Suryabinayak to Gyirong Town, near the Nepal-China border, covering around 60 kilometers. This part of the trip requires patience as crossing into Tibet with foreign-registered motorcycles is a detailed and time-consuming process. Our support vehicles must remain on the Nepal side, so we’ll manually unload all our gear, carry it across the bridge between the two countries, and reload on the Tibetan side.

Although the process is intricate, we’re well-prepared and have allowed plenty of time to manage everything smoothly. This border crossing adds a unique adventure to our journey. Once customs and immigration procedures are complete, we’ll continue riding toward Gyirong Town, our stop for the night.

Upon arrival, we’ll explore Gyirong Town, taking in its local culture and attractions. Remember that China operates 2.5 hours ahead of Nepal, so we’ll adjust our schedule accordingly. The ride promises breathtaking views of the Himalayan foothills and opportunities for cultural immersion, making it another unforgettable day in our Himalayan adventure.

Day 6 : GYIRONG to NEW TINGRI (14268 Ft)

On Day 6, get ready for an exciting ride from Gyirong to New Tingri, passing through some of the most rugged and stunning landscapes in the Himalayas. Our goal today is to conquer the mighty Lalungla Pass, which stands at a breathtaking 5,200 meters. As we climb higher, the air will get thinner, and the temperatures will drop, but the views will make it all worth it.

From the pass, we’ll be rewarded with incredible panoramas of Mt. Xisapangma (8,212m), the fourth-highest mountain in the world, and Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201m), the sixth-highest peak. Keep an eye out for the majestic Himalayan Griffons, with their impressive wingspan of up to ten feet, gliding through the mountain air.

When we arrive in New Tingri, a small Tibetan town nestled high in the mountains, you’ll be greeted by stunning views of the surrounding peaks. The town is full of Tibetan charm, with traditional homes decorated with prayer flags and locals dressed in colorful Chubas (robes). After a thrilling day of riding and adjusting to the high altitude, we’ll rest at a comfortable hotel, ready to relax and enjoy the evening in this scenic town.

Day 7 : NEW TINGRI to GYAN TSE (13,500 ft)

On Day 7, your ride from New Tingri to Shigatse will take you over the challenging Gyanchula Pass, standing at 5,200 meters. As you ascend, the landscape will shift into a high-altitude desert, scattered with nomadic camps and herds of grazing yaks. At the summit, you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views of the vast Tibetan Plateau.

As you continue towards Shigatse, you’ll pass significant landmarks like the historic Sakya Monastery and the stunning blue waters of Yamdrok Lake. When you arrive in Shigatse, Tibet’s second-largest city, you’ll have the chance to explore its deep-rooted history and lively culture.

Visit the bustling Tashilhunpo Market for a taste of local life and discover the revered Tashilhunpo Monastery, a spiritual center of Tibetan Buddhism. After a day filled with breathtaking views and cultural encounters, you’ll settle into your hotel, reflecting on your journey and preparing for the next adventure ahead.

Day 8 : GYAN TSE to LHASA (11,900 ft)

On Day 8, your ride from Gyantse to Lhasa will blend cultural exploration with stunning landscapes. Departing from Gyantse, you’ll leave behind the magnificent Kumbum Stupa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take a moment to admire its towering golden dome and intricate carvings before beginning your ride toward Lhasa.

As you continue, you'll be greeted by the mesmerizing views of Yamdrok Lake, with its brilliant turquoise waters said to reflect the soul of a celestial maiden. The lake’s spiritual significance and beauty are sure to leave you in awe. Along the way, you’ll also pass nomadic communities, with locals tending to their herds, offering you a glimpse into traditional Tibetan life.

The journey will take you through two high mountain passes, Kora La (5,010m) and Kamba La Pass (4,794m). These winding, challenging roads will put your riding skills to the test, but the reward is worth it. At the summits, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the Himalayas, with snow-capped peaks piercing the bright blue sky.

Arriving in Lhasa, the spiritual heart of Tibet, you’ll have time to reflect on the day’s incredible ride and prepare to explore the rich culture and history of this fascinating city.

Day 9 : LHASA REST DAY

On Day 9, you’ll give your bikes a rest and dive into the rich cultural and spiritual treasures of Lhasa, the epicenter of Tibetan Buddhism.

Your day begins with a visit to the iconic Potala Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and former residence of the Dalai Lamas. As you ascend this majestic structure, you’ll be awed by its grand architecture and have the chance to explore its historic chambers.

Next, you’ll visit the peaceful Norbulingka, the Dalai Lamas’ summer palace, where you can stroll through its serene gardens and admire traditional Tibetan buildings.

At the sacred Jokhang Temple, Tibet’s most revered pilgrimage site, you’ll experience the deep spiritual energy as devout pilgrims circle the temple, and you’ll have time to take in its vibrant atmosphere. Your cultural journey continues with visits to the Sera Monastery and Drepung Monastery, where you can witness monks engaging in animated philosophical debates.

To finish the day, you’ll head to the lively Barkhor Market, where you can shop for Tibetan handicrafts, religious artifacts, and enjoy the local street food, mingling with both locals and fellow travelers.

Day 10 : LHASA to SIGATSE

On the 10th day of your tour, you’ll retrace your route back to Shigatse, Tibet’s second-largest city. As you ride, you’ll have a newfound appreciation for the familiar landscapes, reflecting on the cultural depth and spiritual energy you experienced in Lhasa. Notice the shifts in vegetation and climate as you descend in altitude, riding through the vast expanses of the Tibetan Plateau.

Upon arriving in Shigatse, you’ll settle into your hotel for a well-deserved rest, recharging for the next leg of your journey. With Mount Everest on the horizon, the adventure ahead promises even more incredible experiences as you get closer to the crown jewel of the Himalayas.

Day 11 : SIGATSE to TINGRI COUNTY

On Day 11, your ride from Shigatse to New Tingri will take you through the challenging ascent of the Gyanchula Pass at 5,200 meters. As you climb, the landscape will shift into a vast high-altitude desert, scattered with nomadic settlements and grazing yaks. Reaching the summit, you’ll be greeted with spectacular panoramic views of the expansive Tibetan Plateau.

Continuing the journey, you’ll pass iconic landmarks like Sakya Monastery and the beautiful Yamdrok Lake, with its turquoise waters glistening in the sun. Upon arriving in New Tingri, a remote Tibetan town, you’ll have time to rest and take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks, reflecting on the day's thrilling ride.

Tonight, you’ll settle into your hotel, ready for more adventure as the journey brings you closer to Mount Everest.

Day 12 : TINGRI COUNTY to RONBUK - EVEREST BASE CAMP

Today is the main highlight of your tour!

On the 12th day, you’ll leave the bustling city of Shigatse behind and venture into the expansive Tibetan Plateau. As you ride through the crisp mountain air, you’ll tackle the challenging Gyanchula Pass at an impressive 5,200 meters (17,060 feet). This climb will test your riding skills, but the breathtaking views of the majestic Himalayan range will be more than worth the effort.

Your journey will continue towards Rongbuk, a charming village nestled in the heart of the mountains. Here, you’ll experience the unique charm of Tibetan life, with prayer flags fluttering in the mountain breeze and local herders tending their yaks. The tranquility of this region, combined with its rich culture, offers a truly immersive experience.

Upon reaching Everest Base Camp, you’ll stand in awe at the base of the world’s highest peak. The sense of accomplishment and exhilaration of being so close to Mount Everest will be an unforgettable highlight of your adventure.

To wrap up this incredible day, you’ll stay overnight in a comfortable guesthouse in Rongbuk, where you can relax and reflect on the day's remarkable journey.

Day 13 : RONBUK to GYIRONG TOWN

On the 13th day, you’ll set out on an exhilarating motorbike ride from Rongbuk to Gyirong Town, crossing the rugged terrain of the Tibetan Plateau. The journey will take you through remote, breathtaking landscapes where the vast expanse of the plateau unfolds before you, framed by the distant peaks of the Himalayas.

As you leave behind the majestic presence of Mount Everest, you’ll enjoy the thrill of the open road and the refreshing mountain air. Along the way, you'll encounter nomadic herders with their yaks, offering a glimpse into the traditional Tibetan lifestyle and adding to the sense of adventure.

Upon arriving in Gyirong Town, nestled amid the majestic mountains, you'll find a perfect spot to unwind and take in the stunning surroundings. You’ll spend the night in a comfortable guesthouse, reflecting on the day's epic ride and gearing up for the next stage of your journey.

Day 14 : GYIRONG TO KATHMANDU

Today marks the culmination of your extraordinary Traverse Adventure Tour on motorbike. Begin by completing any necessary border formalities at Kerung before crossing back into Nepal.

The ride back to Kathmandu will offer a delightful change of scenery as you travel through picturesque valleys and rolling foothills. As you descend in altitude, you’ll leave behind the stark beauty of the Tibetan Plateau and breathe in the fresh, rejuvenating mountain air.
